Scoring Milestone Reached

Congratulations to senior Victoria on her outstanding achievement on the court. Having played at the varsity level since her freshman year, she has now tallied over 1000 points! This is the most points scored by any lady defender in school history. As the '08-'09 squad moves on to districts, the total will continue to grow.

State in '8

Grandview advanced to the 2008 State Class 1-A Baseball Tournament. The District #12 Champions captured their sub-state match 6-0. With strong pitching and timely hitting in the second half of the game, the Defenders stormed into their first state bracket since the school began their baseball program four short years ago.

The team took their 21-10 record and #6 seed into Principal Park to face North Sentral Kosssuth which was seeded #3 with a 33-6 record. The tough battle was held Monday, July 21at 6:00. Though the Defenders scored more runs than any other team versus Kossuth in the tournament, Kossuth capitalized in the second half of the contest to put the game away. Kossuth continued on to become 1-A State Champions.

The Defenders capped off their exciting district play with a 4-2 win in the district championship game against Martensdale-St. Mary's. The team then progressed to a sub-state match with Moulton-Udell, District #11 Champions.

Go Defenders!! Go Defenders!! Go Defenders!! Go Defenders!!
