Quiet Time Tips
1. Discipline yourself to find the
time. Abandon distractions. Keep the time
consistently. 2. Sandwich your Bible study time
with prayer. 3. Don’t rush through your time. Treat it as time with a lover. 4. Figure out a Bible-reading plan. Try not to randomly choose
passages. 5. Tips for successful Bible study:
- Write stuff down! Make notes in your Bible or in a
notebook. -
Consider the genre of the passage you are reading. -
Discover the plain meaning of the text, not a unique one. -
Remember, the passage cannot mean what it never meant! -
Ask questions. Use the
“Six Serving Men.” -
Study the grammatical and historical context. Context is king! -
Use Bible study tools. 6. Find a word, phrase, verse or idea
to meditate on during the day (Deut. 6:7). 7. Write out Scripture that you have
read and post it somewhere. 8. Memorize Scripture. 9. Apply it, do not just read it.
S-is there any sin for me to forsake?
P-is there any promise for me to claim?
E-is there any example for me to follow?
C-is there any command for me to obey?
T-is there anything to be thankful for today? 10. Try to share with someone each day
something you learned.
