Jonathan and Boone embarked on their great adventure at ITEC11 on October 18th. While there they got to enjoy seeing lots of other student projects much like their own. This event was held at the convention center in downtown Des Moines. They along with several other students showed their project for the enjoyment of the other students, teachers, and tech lovers from all over Iowa.

In Digital Presentation we learn PowerPoint along with some basic design techniques. We then spend most of the semester learning HTML, which is the language used to code webpages.

In Dig Pres II we learn how to edit photos, collages, buttons, and slideshows.

As opportunities arise we created digital projects for our classroom teachers. We have created a CD-ROM program which is now being used in the fourth grade to teach and review the states and capitols.

As we have interest and ability we may move on into Dig Pres III+ where our number one job in is to update the school website. We handle most of the mundane task of updating the text. More interestingly we learn and gain experience in editing photos, creating original works, making rollovers, buttons, and slideshows.

Tech Fair
What is Tech Fair? Tech Fair is sponsored by ITEC (Iowa Technology Education Connection). ITEC promotes the use of technology in education by supporting a group competition to display the educational and helpful side of technology. Students construct projects and place them on display. Judges then evaluate the project and rate them with ribbons. This year's fair was held at Denison, Iowa. Two groups of students brought projects to the competition. For the first time in Grandview history a group of students received a purple ribbon for their project. John and Jeff earned a blue ribbon for their Military Branches website. Sawyer, Boone, and Jon achieved a purple ribbon for their Call of Duty: Black Ops project. The winning of the purple ribbon will send Sawyer, Jon, and Boone to the State Tech Fair Playoffs in October. GOOD LUCK!

These are the best results in the four years that Grandview has participated in the ITEC Tech Fair.

The Purple ribbon is the highest ribbon awarded in the Tech Fair. It is the Judges Choice Ribbon. Congratulations to Sawyer, Jon, and Boone for a succesful victory.

After the Tech Fair, we enjoyed a feast at Rancho Grande. All the students agree that this was the most enjoyable part of the trip. This was a very exciting as well as educational day.
