I have been attending Grandview Park Baptist Church here in Des Moines since July 2002. I am a truck driver, and while I was delivering to a local business I got to know a man who attends this church. He invited me to church and eventually I came. I kept attending because I sensed a true love every time I walked through the doors.

I began a Bible study with two men in the church and trusted Christ for my salvation later that year. I have enjoyed the ministry of the Word and believe I am growing in my faith. I am involved in the Awana ministry and in my Adult Bible Fellowship Group.

I appreciate the true, honest love and encouragement we have for one another. I enjoy being a part of the family of God at Grandview Park.

We both placed our trust in Christ for salvation as children and grew up going to church.  Being a part of a local church has been important to us for many years.  We knew when we moved to the Des Moines area in 1995, as a young couple with a newborn baby, we needed to find just the right congregation of believers.

We visited many churches, but were drawn to Grandview Park because of its biblical preaching and the friendliness of the New Horizons Adult Bible Fellowship Group.  We were looking for more than a church home where we could worship.   We needed a church family too -- a group of people to serve, grow, and have fun with.  We found all of that and more at Grandview Park.

Over the past 13 years, we’ve had the opportunity to see our children grow up at Grandview Park -- from the nursery, to the preschool and elementary programs, and now even in Student Ministries. We know our children are getting a strong biblical foundation here, and are learning to live a joy-filled Christian life through the relevant teaching and fun activities that are offered.

As our children have been growing up in the church, so have we.  We have seen our faith and understanding of the Bible grow under the teaching of Pastor Smith and our ABF teacher Mark Weatherly.  We have grown too as we’ve had opportunities to serve others and use the spiritual gifts God has given us.  Our joys have been multiplied and our sorrows lessened as we have shared them with our friends at Grandview Park.  We really do thank God for leading us to Grandview Park, where we found a church home and family.

I have been at Grandview Park Baptist Church for basically my whole life. I also had the privilege of attending the school here from kindergarten through high school. Growing up in the church, I have many memories of Sunday School and Junior Church teachers, some of whom are still teaching in those children's classes today. I thank God for parents who saw the importance of bringing me to church and teaching me about the truths in God's Word.

I received Christ as my personal Savior at the age of eleven. I felt an incredible peace in my heart that day about the reality of my personal relationship with Christ, and the fact that I knew I would spend eternity with Him. I was later baptized at the age of eighteen.

Several years later, I had the privilege of meeting my husband, Geoff, here at Grandview Park and we were married here in 1998. We have enjoyed being involved in different ministries together over the past several years such as a small group Bible study, Awana, Upward basketball, and the nursery.

We look forward each Sunday to our Adult Bible Fellowship time where we can be encouraged and encourage others in our small group. We are also able to bring our children to the Children's Bible Fellowship and WorshipTime and have the peace of knowing that they are in good and loving hands. We praise God for a church where we know we can trust the teachers and curriculum to help us teach our children about who God is. We rejoice in knowing that seeds are being planted and cultivated as our children grow and begin to understand what God means to us.

I've been attending Grandview Park Baptist Church for over 50 years. I remember going to Sunday school at the old building on E. 32nd here in Des Moines and moving into the new church building when I was 8 years old. In 1959, I was saved after a Sunday evening service. My husband and I were married at Grandview Park in 1970.

For years we have depended on our church for support in many ways. Our three children attended AWANA, youth groups, and graduated from Grandview Park Baptist School. The last several years we participated in a home bible study group where we have been able to share our personal struggles and pray with others.

I also enjoy "working" in the nursery so that young mothers can worship without distraction. Playing with my granddaughter at the same time is an added bonus. I am thankful for the strong friendships we have developed through the years at Grandview Park. Mostly I am thankful that the Bible is still being taught as God's Word and our sole instruction for living.
